Rare & Roasted™ is a family-run coffee company shaped by more than 30 years of culinary and hospitality experience.

A graduate with honors from the Culinary Institute of America, our co-founder,  Kimberly has led many culinary and restaurant operations, including a specialty-coffee house for more than a decade. Most recently, she helped lead the successful openings and operations of three highly acclaimed specialty-coffee houses here in San Diego.

Kimberly's culinary skills and trained palate help guide our coffee selections.

Our other co-founder, Mike, is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and longtime San Diego construction leader.  Together, Mike and Kimberly manage Rare & Roasted with integrity, experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

We carefully select coffees for their character, balance, and overall cup experience. We partner with an experienced small-batch roaster to offer everything from smooth everyday blends to distinctive single origins and rare selections.

The name Rare & Roasted has a deeply personal meaning. “Rare” represents the uncommon coffees we seek out, but it also represents Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects our daughter, Kylie.

For every bag of coffee and package of pods sold, $1 supports Rett syndrome research. Our goal is to serve exceptional coffee while helping create meaningful progress toward a cure.
